Making Glow in the dark paint is easy if you follow a few basic rules.

  1. Use a clear Paint medium, is best; if not use white.
  2. Use small size Glow in the dark pigments, sometimes referred to as Glow Powder. Using large Glow Pigments will make the Glow in the Dark paint surface rough.
  3. Purchase the correct series of Glow in the Dark pigments. Use "W" series Pigments for water based Paint mediums (Acrylic).

"S" and "W" series Glow in the Dark Pigments

If you are not sure a to the type of paint medium you will be using we suggest you use the "W" series as they are suitable for solvent, oil and Acrylic based Paints.

"S" series refers to Standard series non water resistant, Glow in the Dark Pigments. These Glow Pigments (Powders) can be mixed with Oil and Solvent Based Clear mediums, but not Water based (Acrylic) paint mediums. All of our range, unless specified, are suitable for Acrylic - water based paint media.

"W" refers to waterproof series Glow in the Dark Pigments. These Glow Pigments (Powders can be used with oil, solvent and Acrylic (water) based mediums.

Glow in the Dark Pigment sizes

The majority of our Glow in the Dark Pigments are small enough to be suitable for a acceptable finish. Our premium Green Glow Pigments have the largest size for our normal range of Glow in the Dark pigments; but if a rough surface is acceptable, then use these when possible as they give the brightest glow, combined with the longest glow time.
