How to make The correct Purchase when buying Glow in the Dark Products
Glow in the Dark Pigments - Powders
When buying glow in the dark pigments it is very important to choose the correct pigments for your project. This also applies when choosing glow in the dark paints.
Glow Pigment TypesThere are two main types of Pigments that illuminate. They are Glow in the Dark pigments and UV Black Light Pigments.
UV Black Light Glow Pigments, illuminate when placed near a Black light. If the black light is turned off, the UV Glow pigments stop illuminating. These pigments are suitable for use in paints in night clubs, and can be used to create invisible images on walls etc, that appear when a black light(s) are switched on.

UV glow pigments can also be mixed with a variety of media, other than paint, like Polyester resin, Plaster of Paris, silicon, and many more. UV black light pebbles, UV black light chalk, and UV black light craft projects, are just some of the 1000's of uses these incredible pigments are capable of.
Glow in the Dark Pigments, are the normal type of glow pigments that charge under a light source including Black lights, and once charged will glow in dark conditions. These Pigments will charge and discharge many thousands of times, and are discussed in detail, on this page.
Glow in the Dark Pigment series.
The first thing to consider when purchasing Glow in the Dark pigments is, are you using a water based medium to mix with the glow pigments. If you are going to use a water based medium such as Acrylic Paint as a base, then you must order the "W" series of glow in the dark pigments.
"W" is short for Water proof. These Pigments are suitable for use with water based mediums including Acrylic Paints.
"S" or "Standard" series pigments are not suitable for use with Acrylic Paints and other water based mediums. They can be used in Polyester resins etc.
Glow in the Dark Pigments Size
Glow in the Dark pigment size is very important. Pigments sizes range from 2um to 500um or higher. 2um pigment sizes are used in "Glow in the Dark clothing" where as 500um pigments are suited to mixing with resins, and other applications where pigment size doesn't effect the final product or small pigments sizes are needed. larger pigments like 500um, wouldn't be used in paint mixes normally as they would created a very course finish when painted.
